Objectivity in Journalism

To be objective in journalism is to avoid using or hinting at any opinion in an article. Objectivity in journalism includes solid facts. Quotations from relevant sources should be the only place where any opinion is found and it should be that of the source. Moreover, to practice objectivity in a story, a writer must cover the story from all angles and not just from one perspective

  1. Although concise, you probably could have said a bit more about this subject matter. Beyond the three-legged stool, Journalism should in fact be like a scientific process, with each step along the way being of huge importance.

  2. I agree with Lori. Your response has some really good points, but could have been teased out a bit more. The angle a journalist chooses to approach the story alone allows for some bias in the way in which the final product comes out. As a result, while a journalist should consider all angles, to keep the story concise and focused, covering only 1 or 2 should be the aim.
