Here are some resources I found that cater to the LGBT community:
- Point Foundation- is a national LGBT scholarship foundation. It also provides guidance and hope to students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
- Gay Straight Alliance Network International- The mission of this organization is to educate and meet the needs of LGBT youth around the nation.
- International Lesbian and Gay Association- is the only worldwide federation campaigning for lesbian, gay, trans gender and bisexual rights. It aims to work for the equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual people and their liberation from all forms of discrimination.
I think these three resources are great starting points. I wasn't too sure at first about including the Point Foundation, but I could see how it could provide rich info about LGBT teens. The Advocate would also be a great resource. It is a national US news magazine, known as "The World's Leading LGBT News and Entertainment."
ReplyDeleteI think all of these resources are great for the LGBT community. Particularly, i like the Point Foundation's website and the organization's recognition of LGBT students and providing funding for them. Whenever I've seen multicultural reporting on the LGBT community, it usually provides resources that dole out counseling services so I really liked that this organization provided more uncommon resource.
